Heat pump controllers
Controllers and control modules manage compressor, fan, valve and defrost operation and respond to thermostat and sensor inputs. They are the most model-specific light category at launch — a board that looks similar is not a match.

Typical use
Controllers and control modules manage compressor, fan, valve and defrost operation, and respond to thermostat and sensor inputs.
Common symptoms and failure signs
- A system that does not respond to controls
- Incorrect cycling, lost settings, or repeated control-related faults after power and wiring have been checked
- Defrost that never starts, or never ends
- Faults that return after a board swap — check sensors, wiring and power supply first
A symptom alone does not prove this category is at fault. Check wiring, connectors, power and the system documentation first, and do not order by symptom alone.
Specification checklist — what to confirm before ordering
| Field | Why it matters | Where to find it |
|---|---|---|
| System brand, model and revision | Boards are often revision-specific | Nameplate, existing board identification |
| Voltage and power | Wrong voltage can damage the board or the system | Existing board, system documentation |
| Wiring and terminals | Terminal layout must be transferred correctly | Photo of existing wiring, if safe |
| Settings to transfer | Some replacements need settings carried over | Service documentation |
Common mistakes
- Ordering a board by size or connector count alone.
- Ignoring revision or firmware differences.
- Swapping a board without checking the sensors and power that feed it.
Must bring with your inquiry — controllers
- System brand, model and controller location
- Supply voltage, staging and wiring layout
- Existing board identification, if legible, plus a photo of terminals where safe
- Fault pattern: what happens, when, and what has already been checked
- Quantity range and delivery region
Common mismatch cases (generic, not a diagnosis for your system)
- Same appearance, different staging or wiring: the board fits the space but does not run the system the same way.
- Board replaced, sensor or power fault missed: a new board can show the same fault if the input fault was never checked.
- Defrost logic assumed universal: defrost behaviour differs by system, so model and documentation matter more than board size.
